Rechargeable by nature
Deep aquifers are naturally recharged. Developed within replenishment rates, they are sustainable long-term water sources.
99% of all liquid fresh water on Earth is underground. Vast aquifers extend beneath continental shelves worldwide — precisely where the oil and gas industry has been for 70 years.
Deep groundwater layers discharge under a continental shelf. Wells can be drilled with an offshore rig and developed via offshore platform. Produced water is transported to land through pipeline.
Seismic interpretation, well engineering, offshore drilling, subsea infrastructure, and FPSO operations are ATLA’s founding team competences — accumulated across 100+ years of combined offshore experience. The technology crossover to freshwater is direct and immediate: the tools, the methods, and the expertise are identical. Only the commodity changes.
| Source | Cost / m³ |
|---|---|
| Bottled / trucked | $2.00–$5.00 |
| Desalination (avg) | $0.50–$1.50 |
| Desalination (best-in-class) | ~$0.50 |
| Offshore freshwater (est.) | $0.30–$0.80 |
| Onshore groundwater | $0.05–$0.20 |
Lower infrastructure cost means more communities can afford connection.

No energy-intensive reverse osmosis. Natural aquifer pressure drives production, significantly reducing both cost and carbon intensity.
Aligns with EU taxonomy, UN SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), and Horizon Europe climate criteria.
